Gulfi Cantina

The passion and love for a family tradition, which had already lasted for three generations, pushed Vito Catania, in 1996, to give life to one of the most interesting projects of the Sicilian wine scene. The meeting with the oenologist Salvo Foti, who fully shared the project from the beginning, was decisive in this adventure. The decision to focus exclusively on indigenous grape varieties, with the exception of Chardonnay, and to grow them according to the traditional non-irrigated Alberello system, was followed by a commitment to environmentally friendly viticulture, which led to the organic certification of the production method. Gulfi’s wines are recognized as a model of winemaking for the indigenous Nero D’Avola grape. The reputation of the Domaine for producing powerful, balanced, sunny and fresh wines is well established. The estate has about 50 hectares of organic land and produces some of the best wines in eastern Sicily.
