RISERVA MAZON Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC 2021 – Hofstatter

Dense and deep ruby-garnet in color, this great wine displays typical characteristics of undergrowth fruit, sweet but well-structured marasca cherries, warm, harmonious, coherent, round, rich in nuances, solid and fine on the palate
With time, it opens out broad and velvety, almost caressing, with the gentle
refinement of a wine of great caliber, so that it becomes even more structured after
a few years in bottle. This Pinot Noir was born in our vineyards on the Mazon plateau, where’ the Pinot Nero grape was successfully introduced
to South Tyrol in the early 19th century.

It was quickly confirmed that the gentle slopes and microclimate of the Mazon plateau offered ideal conditions to develop a great wine of international stature

Vinification and Maturing.
75% of the grapes are separated from the stalks (branches), while 25% are poured intact into barrels. Fermentation lasts about 10 days, the must being always in direct contact with the skins. After two careful rackings, this wine matures for one year in small oak barrels, then six months in large oak barrels and finally one year in bottle.
