Ludwig Barth Von Barthenau Vigna Roccolo DOC 2016 – Hofstatter

With its intense dark color, this Pinot Noir expresses concentration and elegance. In the glass, it releases its aromatic complexity: richly faceted, it smells of black cherry and cranberry, accompanied by a fine aroma of vanilla and oak.
On the palate, it’s refined with balanced acidity, velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Delivered in a single bottle in a wooden case.

Vigna Roccolo and Vigna S. Urbano are the expression of another reality. Urbano, are expressions of another reality of other prestigious vintages from our vineyards in the Mazon region.
This Pinot Noir vineyard, located in the heart of the plateau, was already close to a “Roccolo”, an ancient place for catching birds, in the time of its owner Ludwig Barth von Barthenau. Vigna Roccolo
reflects the enormous potential of this prestigious cru, whose vines are 70 years old.

Only the appellation “Vigna” guarantees the origin in Alto Adige of a wine coming from a specific vineyard.

Vinification and maturation.

Carefully harvested by hand, the grapes arrive at the winery in small crates to preserve the berries intact.
75% of the grapes are destemmed, 25% remain intact for harvesting. Fermentation in barrels. One day of cold maceration is enough to refine the
bouquet. Fermentation continues for about 10 days, the skins being in permanent contact with the wine. . Maturation in wood comprises two distinct phases: the first lasts around 12 months in
small French oak barrels, and the second consists of blending the different wines in a single large oak barrel for a further 8 months.
After bottling, the wine is refined in bottle for eight months in the cellars of the Barthenau estate.
